Peter and Gillian A. Family - WELCOME TO CANADA!

Exactly two years to the day that Peter and Gillian A. arrived in Canada, they bought their first home! We offer heartfelt congratulations to our favourite A.'s family on this double celebration. The A.'s ; hail from Manchester, England (Helen's hometown!) and initially contacted us on their arrival when looking for a rental property while they settled, made sure everyone would be happy (they are!) and checked out the local real estate market. We kept in touch, and a few months ago it was time to go house hunting. With three young sons under the age of five, Peter and Gillian had some fairly specific requirements. The home would need to grow with the boys, Peter needed somewhere to putter (Gillian said that!), and Gillian herself wanted a "really nice kitchen and living room - and, oh, a pool would be nice!" After a couple of false starts, raised hopes and a disappointing offer that fell apart at the seams - it’s never easy - Gillian and Peter and the boys found an absolutely splendid home complete with pool, huge basement playroom, a garage for puttering and a very nice kitchen and living room. And even a fabulous pool! It took several months and a lot of patience (faxes and emails) to snare this home, and we commend our happy Manchesterites for their calmness and positive attitude when it came to offer presentation time. We have a feeling this house won’t be for sale for many, many years! So enjoy it, A.'s family, and we’re looking forward to that poolside barbeque in the summer!

Paul And Susan H. Family - The Burlington Downtowners

The H.'s were ready for a lifestyle change. For years they’d lived in typical suburbia - a very solid four bedroom home on a standard lot, beside and across from very similar houses. Now they were searching for something more unique, close to the pulse of a downtown area with its cafes, shops, library, parkettes and, of course, the lake. We love a challenge, and after many months and looking at countless houses, we found this absolute charmer. It appeared one night as a brand new listing, and within 24 hours Sue and Paul had their offer in. Situated in the very core of Burlington, walking distance to the amenities the Hansons wanted, it met nearly every one of their dreams. None of us could believe all the amazing features - including the wrap around verandah which gives the outside such amazing charisma. This is an older home which has been completely re-done inside with such care as to maintain the character, integrity and beauty of the original home. Laura is looking forward to strolling to high school, then relaxing on the front porch and sipping a cool drink with friends. This home surely evokes images of an almost forgotten time when life was so much more peaceful and pleasant. We wish Sue, Paul and Laura many, many happy years in this most special residence.

The Murray and Anna H. Family - ALL THE WAY HOME!

Anna and Murray H. were not exactly strangers to the area seeing as how they had grown up in Oakville and had been high school sweethearts. But they’d been away in the United States, building a career and raising a family, so it was almost like new territory for them when they relocated and needed to begin looking for a home. Like most homebuyers, Anna and Murray had some idea of what they were looking for, and set aside a week for the task. Wouldn’t you know, it wasn’t until almost the last day before we opened the door to ‘their’ house? But what a beauty it is - located in one of Burlington’s premier neighbourhoods, Millcroft, and right down the street from a friend of theirs. So they can hardly wait until moving day. We thank Anna and Murray for their great loyalty and keeping in touch with us. We first met them several years ago, at which time they thought they would be moving back, but didn’t. It is always gratifying to know clients choose to work with us. You have a beautiful home, Anna, Murray and Bradley - enjoy it and the huge garden and all your friendly neighbours. We look forward to keeping in touch with you.

The Cathy B.- Jay L. Family - Move Up Buyers and Sellers

Cathy B. and Jay L. and their growing family, are representative of another growing trend in Canada of people who are moving up in the house size requirements -a desire to make room for their recently arrived twin boys Cameron and Riley and big sister Cayley. Jay and Cathy found exactly what they were looking for in a new and larger home in "The Orchard" offering them the extra room they needed while remaining close to the assistance of Cathy's Mom and Dad in Burlington! Jay who is a Realtor with Brookfield LePage, a Commercial and Leasing arm of Royal Le Page Real Estate commutes to Toronto, and wanted to be near the Appleby 'GO' station. Helen first met Cathy when she came to visit one of our Open Houses close by in the neighbourhood with the twin boys in tow. Our Open House meeting led to an appointment to present Jay and Cathy with our Marketing Plan and placing their home on the market. Our ads in the Oakville Beaver, Open house, full colour feature sheet, and the exposure on the Toronto, Oakville and Burlington MLS service quickly resulted in offers. We negotiated and firmed up on an offer with a family from BC, who Jay and Cathy feel will enjoy their home as much as they did. We appreciate how important it is working as a team to get the job done and we wish your Family all the best and happiness in your New Home. Richard Weima and Helen Mirrlees.

The Brian and Joan H's Move - "Full Circle"

Oakville and back, via Saskatoon and Korea A few years ago we moved from Oakville to Saskatoon, and then on to a work assignment in Korea and then a return move back to Oakville. Choosing our realtor in the Oakville area resulted from an earlier chance meeting. It was the professional, friendly and easy attitude during that brief interchange led us to engage Helen Mirrlees and Richard Weima. In May 1997, they showed us a number of properties which met a list of criteria we had made for our search in already selected areas in Oakville. We indicated new or resale homes and were shown both types in a very busy week of searching, viewing, discussion, re-viewing, and advice. A new house listing won out based on an extended closing date(we were looking for 4-5 months). Helen and Richard provided support and advice on all aspects of the search, and provided it in a nice efficient manner. We did not feel any sense of pressure to make offers, although they adequately advised us of the need to move quickly on certain properties at the time. They were available for support at all times, and provided solid advice on different aspects also including the services of team member John Reiter who is their mortgage specialist and advisor. We easily communicated from Korea through the Internet with Helen and Richard on all aspects whilst awaiting completion of the house. You cannot imagine our excitement when we received construction progress "photos" over the Net, a result of Richard's digital photography. We couldn't wait to see the real thing. "It was a real pleasure to deal with both Helen and Richard, we valued their assistance and thank them for their support during the whole episode from the first information package to successful completion of attaining a wonderful new home". Thank you both for your expertise and kindness.

Regards and Best Wishes, Brian & Joan H.

The Shirley M. Move - "World Traveller"

Shirley M. loves to travel! So when she returned recently from an around-the-world cruise, she realized that she needed to change her lifestyle in order to allow for carefree travel. This is a growing trend in Canada for early retirees and others seeking to simplify their lives - the desire to eliminate the restrictions and responsibilties a larger home represents now that the family is all grown up and moved away. Shirley found exactly the home she was seeking in Vineland, near St.Catherines in the Niagara Peninsula, at the exclusive adult-oriented condominium complex of Heritage Village. This complex offers an exciting new lifestyle allowing Shirley to just "lock up and go"! No snow to shovel, no grass to cut! Heritage Village is where Shirley met her salesperson, Rosemary Mealing, a fellow Royal LePager with whom we've worked on several occasions in the past. We placed Shirley's current home on the Oakville and Toronto Real Estate Multiple Listing Boards and, with our exclusive 'Maximum Exposure' Marketing Plan, soon negotiated an excellent offer which met Shirley's timing and pricing requirements. Once again, many thanks to Rosemary Mealing in St.Catherines for referring a most delightful client to us, and best wishes to you Shirley in your brand new home and your carefree "World Traveller" lifestyle.

The David and Randa S. Family- "Moved up Buyers"

Randa was out scouting for a larger home to suit her growing up Family and met us at our Sunday open house in Samual Curtis Estates. Helen determined what Randa's hoouse needs and wants were and offered to assist Randa's family in finding a new home. It was important that son Richard and daughter Michelle remain in their Burlington school. The search began with seeing all the appropriate properties available in the require school zone of East Burlington. Then we began the process of communicating all new listings that met their criteria by fax...until finally we found the right one listed by fellow Royal LePager Michael O'Sullivan. After a period of tough and extensive negotiations we settled on an agreement and following a revealing home inspection (on the worst of snowy days) it was all settled to be David, Randa and kids Dream home with lots of room to roam! Then came the next step of listing their East Burlington Bungalow for sale and at a price which would sell fair but soon. The Marketing and Pricing Plan was presented and the listing went on all MLS markets of Toronto, Burlington and Oakville for complete Exposure. That night an agent from Acton was making her appointment to show a similar Royal Le Page property already listed in the area. Our very astute and super appointment secretary Gillian suggested an appointment on our just newly listed property which resulted in a showing the next day and an offer that night. Again team work! We negotiated hard and came to an excellent agreement the following morning and after their home inspection, everything was done, and sold...all within a few days. Everybody is moved and everybody is happy! Wishing you all the best and happiness in your new home! Richard Weima and Helen Mirrlees

Congratulations David, Randa, Michelle and Richard!
